About This Space

by Kristin
Completing my 500-hour yoga teacher training course in Dharamshala, India.

I believe miraculous endeavors can be achieved when we are engage in what brings meaning to our lives.

The practice of yoga means more to me than an exercise where you bend yourself into interesting and less than ideal shapes. Instead, the system of yoga is one I can rely on to show me what I want to move closer to and how to let go of what no longer serves me.

It’s a practice that moves me beyond my limitations and into the space of possibility.

Yoga is also a way of ‘being’ where we engage in more moments where we appreciate life rather than operate from a place of lack and resistance. Moments like sitting in stillness, breathing deeply, feeling what its’s like to be in my body, or when I’m connecting with another human (or my dog).

It’s in moments of both movement and silence, which are both a part of the yogic tradition, that have helped me tap into an inner sense of joy and safety. Though these moments are fleeting, they are now something I can always return if I choose to engage with these practices.

I will be the first to admit I am not perfect at any of these things. I still have a relentless inner voice that constantly tells me what I am doing wrong or that I should be doing more. I get cranky. I carry my judgements.

BUT the beautiful thing about our yoga practice is that it is a practice. It only asks that we commit to putting our best foot forward each day. And to give ourselves grace when our best falls flat. After all, we are only human.

Please know that you get to define what is meaningful to you. This is your path. You get to be the creator of your own life. Take what resonates with you and leave the rest. And thank you for hearing me out as I try to make sense of this thing called life by giving my thoughts form.
